I have been overtrained before and I don’t have any signs of it. The sport I’m training for is track cycling. I have found out that many of the world’s best riders only use powerlifting and Olympic type movements. They don’t do quad extensions, hamstring extensions, etc. Right now I am only concentrating on my squat, this is all I do. I wanted to get my squat to 365 or better before add anything else. This is why I tried the Smolov squat routine (base cycle). I have seen reports of people adding on some serious weight to the bar. I felt surely this would help add at least 30 lbs to my squat. But this only helped with endurance and not on my 1 rep max. This led me to be were I am today. 8 reps for 3 sets on Monday. I end up taking 245lbs to 9 reps and felt I could have pushed for 10. Wednesday 6 reps for 3 sets using 265lbs and Friday 4 reps for 3 sets using 280lbs. By the time Sunday rolls around I am climbing the walls because I want to get a workout in. If I was overtrained I would never feel this way. Online 1 rep max calculators show I should be around 320lbs to 335lbs. But I’m not ever close to that. Should I use lower reps?
