torn patella tendon

Has anyone ever dealt with this injury?

I had a complete detachment at the shin that was surgically repaired 8 weeks ago. My ortho won't give me firm answer on what it will withstand. I know a lot of guys come pack from pec and biceps tendon detachments, but didn't know about the patella or quadriceps tendon. I realize that I have a very long road to recovery, but I would gladly listen to the advice of a lifter that's been through it before.
