If you want to powerlift, then do it. Drop the high reps and go with a low rep high weight mind set.
my normal routine is to do the bar for a set of 5, and then I just keep adding 90lbs until I reach 315. At 315 I start doing singles for my warm ups until I hit my working weight and I never do more then a set of five. I take that back, for a couple of weeks after a contest I will do sets of 10. But in powerlifting the name of the game is how much weight you can do for 1, not 10.
