Squat. Heavy squats, even without partners, just do them in a rack. A 3 sets of between 5 and 8 reps should be perfect for gaining size. If you can get 8 reps it is to light, and if you can't get 5 reps it is to heavy.

Deadlift. Heavy deadlift, no problem with no spotters for deadlift. Same thing on the sets for deadlift, but if your a beginner I wouldn't do more then a set of 5 for deadlift. The more reps you do the greater a chance of bad form which could lead to an injury. Low weight and higher reps for deadlift are useless for gaining size.
