Using the Olympic Team rankings, from the Sr. Nationals and Pan Am Champs. only, 405 would move him into 2nd place by less than 4 Tenths. (.40)

408 (182 + 226) would move him into first by 1.6 Hundredths

But would either of those totals make it? 329 by Bruce, Vaughn or Frye would pass a 408 total. As would 349 for Kendrick and 363 by Wittmer or Vardanian. So it will be another of those "Bring your calculators to the Meet" meets.

And let's not forget that the Greek situation has yet to be settled, so our hopes for a 3rd spot aren't dead yet. So a Coach will have to weigh an extra 3 or 4 kilo jump for 1st (or 2nd) vs. a "safer" jump for 3rd place.
