So, from this it appears that poor proverty-sticken CUBA is the top WEIGHTLIFTING country (for men) in North America beating out the so-called industrialed rich countries of USA (2 men) and Canada (2 men) for number of slots for men qualified.

In South America, Columbia (6 men) and Venezuela (5 men) are powerhouses too along with Cuba.

To me, this shows that MOTIVATION is the key ingredient to be good at this sport....and not finances. Should USAW relocate to HAVANA for a few years to pick up ideas ?

At least our ladies have the maximum number (4) qualified.

Let's hope all lifters get PR's at the trials and the games !!
