John, thank you for sharing this with all of us. It was inspiring to me and I am sure many of the readers on many levels. As a parent, as a weightlifter and as a professional who has spent 28 years as a teacher, behavior analyst, faculty member and researcher working with children affected by autism spectrum disorders and their families. Melanie and her family obviously have embraced these challenges with love, faith and determination.

I wish her the very best as she pursues her olympic dream and my best to she and her family and her little boy as they work to attain the very best for him. I will share this with my students and I know they will be very moved by her example.
