John,

That was an excellent segment! In the military, we're constantly (and desperately) trying to find ways to "get our message out" so that people understand what we're trying to do and "who we are" (obviously in Iraq and Afghanistan, but in a lot of other places too). As an "IO", or information operations, effort, in a forum that has a significant amount of public access, that is a superb effort; it highlights US weightlifting, our excellent women, Calpians (nice strategic T-shirt placement!) and, of course, Melanie. It shows the public that our lifters come from thier ranks (and not from some other planet), and often have their same aspirations, problems, issues, prayers, etc. Buy-in from the public for our athletes is greatly enhanced, and gives them a view of our sport that isn't related to one-or-another steroid controversy, et. al.

Well done...we need a lot more of this! Good luck to Melanie and all of our sensational ladies as they "go for the gold"!
