Great videos, your site is a great resource!
Just finished some reading, very little is known of Russian lifting pre-1946.
some early stats, maybe you can verify the accuracy
1936 he weighed 130 lbs
1937 @ 145lbs 231-220-286
1938 @ 154lbs 253-242-297
later@ 159lbs 275-264-341
later@ 165lbs 286-273-355
then the war.....
1945 totalled 909lbs @ 181lbs to beat Louis Hostin's 821 lb record and John Davis's 853 lbs,
In 1946 he totalled 936lbs

These are sensational lifts.

We think of Soviet lifting as a post war phenomenon, however David Webster says just prior to the German invasion of Russia (1941) their team was probably the strongest in the world, having surpassed 21 of 35 world records.

Webster also says Novak had 62 world records??....but I noticed only those post 1946 are in the books.

Russia came to the 1946 Worlds wanting to join the FIH. Russia's initial verbal application was denied, their WRITTEN application (according to the bureaucratic principles) was accepted the next day by the narrowest of votes 7 to 6 against. Russia became the 18th member of what was later to become the IWF.
