That was the Rusty Pelican in Alameda, California, which has been out of business for many years. The two surf bums who opened the original down in Newport, CA went on an ill-informed, greedy, and hubristic spree of opening way too many new stores at once, and the company got crushed.

At one time, this place was hoppin'! It was on the water, about one-half mile from one of the gates to the Alameda Naval Air Station (which also closed several years ago.). Between the locals, the yachtsmen, and the naval aviators and sailors, you can imagine what a scene this was!
