The usoc is, for the most part, guided as to the needs of NGBs by the people representing the NGB (bod, Ed, etc.)in its day to day activities. There is no other reasonable way the usoc, with so many different sports, could manage the wide variety of US Olympic sports. The problem arises when you have an NGB whose leaders have no interest whatever in improving the sport and the situation for the athletes.
The agenda with this High Performance job is the same as it has always been. The usaw gets money from the usoc to support the small group of folks who have been in power for some time now.
You are talking about a job that, with pay and perks is worth over 80K. What was the song..."money for nothin"-(Dire Straits)The part of it that continues to amaze me, Jim, is that these guys still convince kids and some adults that they are doing a great job. It is amazing what titles and selp-promotion can do.
