The coach of the 1969 Maccabiah weightlifting team was Morris Weissbrot. Samuels served as coach at a different Maccabiah Games. I'm unsure of the year he served in that capacity.

David Berger did compete for the NOAC club while attending Tulane University, and Samuels may have been the coach of the NOAC, but it it unlikely Samuels served as a personal coach to David Berger. Berger devised his own training routines and was self-coached. Adam Swirz was the coach at McBurney YMCA in New York when David Berger trained there (1966-1970.) But, Adam had no part in planning David Berger's training either.
