Today I just did sets of 10 on the glutham raise, and some 3 sets of 5 of pendlay barbell rows at 80k. I'm not worried about the weightlifting aspect since the reason I'm building my back is weightlifting (injury prevention). I'll be doing the fast stuff - strict pulls w/ the shrug, GMs weightlifting style, etc. The lower back is quite strong in terms of isometrics as I pause (ham cav compression) back squat. It's just that I don't use a belt, or any equipment other than shoes. I'd like to have enough muscle down there to compensate.
