I wasn't just responding to your comments but to the entire situation in our "sport." I believe we have had plenty of talent. A lack of hope is a factor though in limiting recruitment and driving them out of the sport, but then facing a 10-15% head start for the opponents, an administrative, coaching, fan base that doesn't even believe they can ever win, drugs or no drugs, the resulting lack of support, and being involved in a mockery/tainting of sport (Saturday Night Live arm ripping skit is increasingly being viewed by society as how our sport really is- a drug freak show) make weightlifting pretty much a bad choice for a talented athlete, so there is clearly truth in your words.
