I think we all agree on the big points with maybe small differences. With regard to numbers, Marty, beggars can't be choosers; we need all we can get and can't discriminate in favor of quality athletes only. If we go from 1,000 senior lifters to 5,000, 10,000 or more we'll get a lot of average folks but we might also get 5- 10 more Jeff Wittmers, Kendrick Farris's, Casey Bs, Carrisa Gordons, etc. Plus we increase our "circle of influence" which means more people with experience in the sport and means more recruitment, more coaches, more exposure, etc. I see growth of the sport as the number one priority right now.
Don, as to $, I agree but it is a complicated matter. We must have something people want and are willing to pay for. No business, government, foundation or NGO is is going to just hand out dough - they need something is return; higher sales, goodwill in the community, better image, reflected glory, etc. For this we need international success, attractive personalities and a feel good story to sell. And I think the first step to any of this is more numbers and growth of the sport.
Anyway, you guys are a big reason I enjoy this sport -quality people who put the best interest of the sport first. Let's make sure to stay in touch,
Rege
