I remember the incident a little differently. The drug testers had requested a few people to be tested DAYS before they lifted. But Alexeev left the village and only came back on the day he was lifting. The RUMOR was that he left because he needed a few more days to "clean out".

There were also rumors that they caught him, but back in the 70's Alexeev was one of the top three known athletes in the World (Ali & Pele were the others) and too big to get popped (like Lance Armstrong).
