You know why kurlovitch participated in the smuggling? because he was struggling to live off of the monthly stipends. You how I know that? Because that is what he said! Piserenko as well. The controversy over Alexeev's weighin in Montreal is well documented. Not reffering to his bomb out in 80. explaning the mentality of why lifters from communist gov compete is not condoning thier actions. You should be wise to take Tarenenko seriously. He could have very well won the 84 and 88 games but circumstances (boycott, infection) prevented him from doing so. you can't call someone a cheater when their all on drugs id my point. Their is no rationalizing their actions but you can understand why some lifters take drugs in order to provide for their families. why do you think after the fall of communism so many lifters migrated to other countries? Because they could offer better monatary rewards.
