Werksan competition bumpers...

I was loading weights this weekend after I lifted at Collegiates and when we were changing plates during the session I noticed that the metal insert on the bumpers has some slack in it. I was taking off a 15 and putting on a 20 for a weight change and the middle piece was just sliding around. I thought it was a defective plate but I checked the rest and they were all like this. Is this just a design of the weight in order to cushion the impact when the plates are dropped down to the platform after a lift???? Just curious
