Ok Marty. you caught me. I don't have the info on hand. BUT I ONCE DID!
You may remember about 2-3 years ago Don McInthebox had mentioned he had researched most (all?) of the NGBs as to their Board makeup, etc. At that time, I followed and compiled a little list of my own.
Now here's the part where you caught me. Even though I was a Computer "Professional" for 10+ years, I broke rule # 1 and didn't always backup my home computer. Well, you guessed it, I had a major Harddrive crash Nov-Dec 2005 (the kind that cost $1200.00+ to get any data) and that's some of what's missing. I asked Don for a copy of his, but he had just moved and wasn't sure where it was (Hey Don, you found it yet?)
But as a beginning, look at the biographies of the BOD of the USOC (http://usoc.org/complete_board_bios_wo_photos.pdf):
1. Peter V. Ueberroth has been Managing Director of Contrarian Group Inc., an investment and management company
2. Erroll B. Davis Jr. took office as Chancellor of the University System of Georgia
3. Jair K. Lynch, a two-time U.S. Olympian... has 10 years experience in real estate development and construction with significant work involving office, institutional and multi-family residential development.
4. Mary McCagg, a two-time Olympian, has been a United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Athletes’ Advisory Council (AAC) Vice Chair since 2000 and was an AAC member from the sport of rowing 1996 - 2000
5. James (Jim) McCarthy has been the representative of the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) to the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Board of Directors since 1999.
6. Michael (Mike) P. Plant was named the Braves’ Executive Vice President of Business Operations in November 2003 and oversees stadium operations, security, finance, personnel, special events and the minor league clubs. Plant joined the Braves after having served as an Executive Vice President of Turner Sports since February 2002. Previously, Plant was President of the Goodwill Games and Vice President of Events for Turner Sports. 1980 Speed Skating Olympian
7. Harold T. Shapiro is President Emeritus and Professor of Economics and Public Affairs, Princeton University.
8. Stephanie A. Streeter is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Banta Corporation, a global marketing leader in printing and supply chain management
AND the 3 US IOC Members:
9. Robert (Bob) J. Ctvrtlik, a three-time U.S. Olympian, was named to the International Olympic Committee
10. Anita L. DeFrantz was named to the International Olympic Committee in October 1986
11. James (Jim) L. Easton has been President of the International Archery Federation (FITA) since 1989 and was named to the International Olympic Committee in September 1994
So you can see #2, 7 & 8 are not USOC/Sport People. It can even be argued that although he may have a lot of experience with Sports, #3, Peter Ueberroth, isn't from the Olympic Family. (Wasn't he "shunned" by the USOC after he ran the 1984 Olympics?).
I understand this is a new make up of the USOC's BOD. But past BODs always had "Public Sector Members". Past USOC President Bill Hybl originally served on the USOC as a Public Sector Member. As was George Steinbrenner, who's "public connections" proved invaluable to the USOC many times. USAW "Public Sector" BOD Members could work the same way.
BUTCH!
