Butch - Thanks for the post. Of course, I am sure you know that "one swallow doesn't mean Spring." If you draft a player from one school who doesn't pan out, you don't necessarily refuse to draft any from there.
I am not sure how many applicants they will get with MBA's and 5 years experience in sports management, etc. They might have bigger fish to fry, especially if they were competent and dynamic.
I was told Wes' degree was in marketing or communications. I don't think one needed an MDA to put out a weekly report. Denis Reno and Kim Goss put out magazines. Now, maybe the weekly reports take MBA's.
I think WEs didn't learn from mistakes, didn't utilize the expertise of the membership, and didn't communicate. I am not sure his background was the problem there.
I don't think we will find someone who meets all of the ideal standards the committee set. (I would disagree somewhat on what qualities are most important, anyway.) So, it becomes a trade-off.
I see a non-weightlifting person coming in and listening to"
1. - The BOD
2. - Wes & Dragomir
3. - Colorado staff

He/she might get a different view of what is needed and what, if anything, is wrong with the website, the magazine, the OTC, the sport, etc. He/she surely wouldn't know nayone at the grassroots level. Indeed, in Colorado I don't think there is a big concern about grassroots.
I think Dennis' involvement in fundraising and promoting the sport woiuld serve him well. However, I know where you are coming from and respect your opinion. Maybe we will get lucky and David Stern or Peter Uberroth will apply. - Marty
