I agree with Butch. No disrespect to Dennis. He is one of the hardest workers and most effective coaches in the sport, and one of the few honest, open and straight forward people in a position of power. But we need someone who can sell the sport and raise money.
As said so well in the Godfather, "It ain't personal, it's business." If an NFL team were looking for a new head coach, it wouldn't hire from within the current staff on a team that just went 2-14. Well, in the greater world of weightlifting, that's where we are. For a change, why don't we go with someone who has proven themselves as a sports administrator and let the coaches coach.
The sad thing is, the best person to evaluate candidates for the position, Artie Drecshler, is in the box with Don. A great lifter, a great coach and a very successful businessman on a big scale, but he didn't agree with the small minds around him. I'm sure he will be on the outside looking in during the entire process. If I had my dream team on a search committee, it would be Artie, Butch and Don(the cynic...err...skeptic).
