In Response To: What about the pay-out / lost millions!!! (Scott Tusic)

Scott - You speak on subjects I follow closely, although not WL related. 2 schools in the Pac-10 had losing records... Stanford and Washington. ONly 1 had a losing non-conference record. (About 1/2 of the teams are going to have .500 or below records in conference, of course).
Boise St. looked great in their game; they did me right. Great coaching and preparation and execution. I thought Mich. would beat USC. IF a game was set next week between Boise St. and USC, I think the line would be USC favored by at least 7-10 points. Vegas may be off, but anytime you can bet a 10 point favorite straight up, DO IT & LET ME KNOW.
I am not sure who else would be a better pick as # 1 for next year. THings may change, of course. One can always pick a game and extrapolate results based off that, e.g., Ohio St. beat Illinois by 7, so Mich is just a little better than Illinois, etc., etc. Heck, Rutgers was ahead 33 - 0 against Il..at half, I think, so they would beat Ohio St. by 3 Td's or more???????
There are flaws in the system. A playoff will eventually happen, I think. BUt everyone is looking out for themselves and the $$$. I do think there is better coaching at some of the smaller schools where they cannot just rely on talent alone. Boise State is a great example, as are BYU and Louisville. - Marty
