Here in our country we used to have a weekend sports show known as "The Wide World of Sports" on the ABC television network. It was a great weekend show that had many different sporting events that showcased numerous champions. I couldn't wait till weightlifting was on the television. Of course our family never got a color TV in those days until 1972. We had that big ole black and white console for years. Color TV was just to pricey for our family but the black and white served the purpose. I would marvel over those supers lifting such heavy poundages. I remember Reding and other elite supers. Never has there been a more intimidating line-up of mass on the platform when they were introduced to the audience. ABC was the leader in showing Olympic Weightlifting.
