I played linebacker and later guard. Linebacking was more fun, guard was actually technically more difficult. Cleans & Jerks were great training for the explosiveness to bull over on runs, stand 'em up on pass plays, and (my favorite) totally level the linebacker on a pull. One thing's for sure: If you're a guard and you're playing like the DT has straps, you're holding. I see much too much of this on Sunday afternoons.
