Yes! A true character. His approach to the bar was interesting too...absolutely no hesitation, just take a grip and the bar was in motion. This could have an unnerving effect on his competition.

His technique may not have been the best, but it worked for him and he did get into good low positions with the heavier poundages, not trying to power clean or power snatch them.

Hard to imagine anyone wearing street shoes, a tee shirt and bathing suit making near record lifts, but I would say that it proves the point that determination is the main factor, far more than having the latest gear or great coaches backing you up.
