I vote to bring it back. I'd like one more shot at it. The very first contest I entered was the 1969 Open. I was 17 and was hoping to total 700 as a very light lightheavy (173). My father drove my brother and I up from Baltimore, I weighed in took a couple of warmups and re-injured my back,I had hurt it a couple of months prior doing squats. Anyway I never got to lift and never entered again. I did get the 700 a few weeks later, however.
