"the reason majority of strength coaches require only to parallel and not below is the risk versus reward concept. I personally feel that athletes should squat below parallel, but in the world (politics) of athletics my opinion does not matter. A strenght coach has to battle with athletic trainers, doctors and sport coaches. Politics out weighs the notion of what may or may not be right/wrong in athletic development."
These are concepts that I already understand. It's amazing the impact a little ignorance can have.

Don't squat at or below parallel, but keep playing that sport that is (NOT) sooo much safer for the knees! LOL!
