Good camcorder?

OK, this is sort of off typic. But it does have a tie-in to lifting. My wife and I do not have a camcorder, but I plan to get us one for x-mas (from the pooch). I plan to use the camcorder to record my lifting sessions to better allow me to critique my technique. From those on here who record lifting (either their own, or at meets), what do you have and/or what do you recommend? Do I need to get special software to be able to save it on to the computer, and then upload it on to a site if I so desire?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
