Todays weightlifting requires a different kind of physiology to perform the sophisticated technique at a high level.
Form and function requires a physical adaptation that conforms to success.
Most weightlifters from the past could not do what weightlifters do today, and most weightlifters from today could not do what weightlifters did in the past.
The weightlifter today does not have the same physical apperance as the weightlifter of the past. The 60's to 70's was a transition phase from the old strength power to the modern speed power. During the 60's and 70's the athletes were a physical hybrid transitioning from the past technique into the present technique. Their physical apperance was sometwhere in between.
