Whenever I see the older films of past lifting champions, I wonder what these lifters could have done now, with the better equipment we have and rules that allow thigh brush, etc.

So many of the champions from the past were so brutally strong...doing high power cleans and snatches with record weights and really using all arms to pull these weights...simply amazing.

Of course the pressing power was unmatched...Hepburn, Anderson, Bradford, etc. just cleaned the barbell and stood erect and pushed it overhead. A recent clip on Art Chidlovski's 'Lift-Up' site shows Stan Stanzyck making effortless presses at the 1950 Worlds. How many lifters today, at the same weight could match that raw power?
