In Response To: Re: Anybody That Believes In Evolution Is A #####. (Arthur B. Jones)

Of course, in theory, that "could" happen, that a mutant named "Adam" could be born, and that a mutant named "Eve" COULD be born, within each other's lifetime, and within close proximity to each other.....but the odd's would be astronomical.

Even by current scientist's "belief" that the Earth is billions of years old....there just wouldn't be enough time, to explain all of the species on the planet. We don't see any new species coming into existence, today, due to evolution, SO, if the very unlikely occurrence did happen, as in the Adam & Eve scenario you propose, now you are asking for that to happen again, X(times), all of the species on the planet. Even by current scientist's "belief" in the age of the Earth, there just wouldn't be enough time...

Besides, there is a discrepancy in the proposed age of the Earth. Physicists now have the formula at which rate the Sun is burning up. And they know the current mass of the Sun. The formula has been worked backwards, and lo and behold, if the Solar System were even 100,000 years old, the first planet would be engulfed by the Sun, and the temperature on Earth would be so hot, that all the water would have boiled off the planet.

So, life on earth must be quite a bit less than 100,000 years old...
