Bench shirts and powerlifting

I know I'm going to draw fire for saying this but I'm gonna anyway. I think that bench shirts take away credibilty from powerlifting. What other sport allows the athlete to use something that increases their performance? I don't think that powerlifting will gain widespread popularity or gain admittance into the olympics until they aren't used anymore.
Keep in mind this is only my opinion and you have every right to disagree so pretty please don't chew my head off.
