Canadian Powerlifting update

I finally would like to spread out a word about a new affiliate for the World Powerlifting Congress. A group of Canadian lifters, former members of an inactive CPC have joint together and created a new organization - Canadian Powerlifting Organization. We have applied for a affiliation to the WPC. It has been fully approved and we have received for our organization a status of a full member, with full authorities to develop and promote powerlifting in Canada. WPC has also given the CPO a full authority to organize National teams to compete at the World Powerlifting Championships.

I think we also made a great decision of unifying what was broken apart. We have scheduled a Unified Nationals and Unified America's Cup together with the GPC Canada. It will take place in Calgary on June 3-4, 2006. Venue and further details will be announced on the Canadian Powerlifting Organization's and Independent Powerlifting Association's web sites.

The CPO's web site is not fully developed yet, but you may find the information about this meet on the Coming Events page.

Please note that the CPO's first competition is scheduled in February in Ontario and held by Bruce McIntyre and Clint Harwood. They are planning on putting on a bench meet with over 50 lifters. Details will be on the web site later.
