I'm not disputing evolution per se in any sport, just the matter of "necessity versus luxury" when it applies to said activities.

It IS necessary for technology to intervene in order to increase technology-dependent sporting events like automotive racing, motorcycle jumping, etc.

It is NOT necessary, however for technology to intervene in order to increase activities solely predicated on physiological parameters such as strength, coordination or endurance.

That athletes have CHOSEN to take the technological route to supplement the physiologic training process is simply illustrative of our willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve some arbitrary goal.
