If I win with a 1600 lb total at a USAPL Nationals, it is far more prestigious than winning an SLP national meet with a 2200 total.

The problem is, with equipment nowadays, some lifters with 1600 lb. totals can probably really outlift others that do 2200, if the equipment were the same. I'm good for 580 tonight with my sixty dollar titan squat suit. Lord knows if I had someone to train me up with a top of the line suit... I'm sure I could a lot more to that number

There are too many factors with equipment nowadays to accurately compare every lifter

there are a lot of ifs in there...

I guess my argument really counters both sides...but I would definitely remember winning a major national meet a lot more than setting a big number
