I know what you are talking about. What I said was a lot of guys like to have a few before they lift. There is a fine line between having a few and being drunk. I have never hit a pr drunk, but have hit several aftyer having a few beers. I hit a pr on my close grip decline one time by 70 pounds after drinking a 6 pack, and that lift takes a lot of balance and the bar will fall in toward your face when you miss. It had been stuck at 600 for over 2 years and that day I hit 670. Powerlifters have a habit of over analizing things, sometimes a few drinks loosens a man up a little. To each their own what ever works. You are right though, it would take a man with serious issues to have spotters spotting him that are drunk.
