Excellant post man. Cole was indeed the man. Planet Muscle magazine regularly profiles "power" men, throwers, olympic lifters, ect. Not too many modern powerlifters in the mag. Everson has stated that he believes that many of the big assisted squats and benches of today are bogus lifts. One recent issue had a picture of Cole deadlifting, along with Cash, Coan and a few others. Funny thing, at my first powerlifting meet in 1978 I deadlifted 400@132(age 15). Jerry Jones told me that the deadlift seperated the men from the boys. That was of course when the squat gear added less than 100lbs and no bench shirts existed. Now the only thing seperating the men from the boys is the men being able to afford $500 worth of gear.
