Deadlift advice

For the past 25 years I have deadlifted sumo. Since I also do some track and field events and triathlon I am planning on switching to conventional deadlifting for training and meets. I do not feel strong doing sumo any longer. Should my feet be about shoulder width or more in-line with the width of my hips? I know I want to pull almost straight up, can one be too narrow in the convential deadlift? Any ideas on a workout I could do 1-2 days a week just for the convential deadlift? Thanks, Douglas Heeren
