In Response To: walter thomas book (Russ McDonnell)

Russ,
One of my biggest non platform treats was going to dinner one evening in Baton Rouge during a USAPL masters nationals meet with Walter Thomas and his wife and Mike Bridges and his wife.

These two guys are as nice to be with as they are incredible on the platform. I naturally had a thousand questions and was trying to be cool but barely noticed what i was eating.

I got Walter to discuss his training when he won the Worlds as the oldest lifter,I believe. He had phyiscal issues that he had to work around to perform optimally. I came away with the feeling the few lifters ever understood their body and how to push it to improve better than Walter. But what he did, might not necessarily be best for you and me.

I am sure Walter's advise would still be incredible but i came away with the feeling that their personal determination to win was 70% of their success. Naturally, i can't prove it but I believe you could make Walter and Mike stop doing their favorite routines and six months later they would still be back as champions.
