Its ever how you look at it. I competed for 17 years and bombed out 15 times, I always liked the trill and excitment of having a high opener, it motivated me. But for a man like Mendelson that has accomplished just about everything there is in benching, he wanted to bench at least 900 so thats what he opened with. He probaly felt that if he couldnt get that much that he didnt want nothing.
