Tremendously Good Job!

I'm hearing nothing but positive things about APF President Garry Frank's APF Master/Sub/Jr/Teen Nationals. Over 120 lifters! He went all out to provide loyal APF/WPC lifters old/new the best facility possible. Huge ballroom, free food for lifters, sweet metals, consistent officiating, top notch bars/benches/monolifts, and an awesome back drop the lifters emerged from to the lifting platform. Of the 120 plus lifters, close to 50 of them were teenagers. Many of them carried over from the APF High Nationals single-ply team competition. As many of you already know Garry hosted the most successful APF Teenage competition(188-lifters) in our federations history.

Next Garry's objective is to get as many lifters to attend APF Seniors hosted by Becca Swanson/Rick Hussey in Omaha Nebraska at the end of this month. Please all Sub-masters should make every attempt to go to Omaha if you lifted in Baton Rouge. If you you totaled enough at Garry's meet you are qualified for APF Seniors. Call Amy Jackson if you have any questions. Master lifters if you feel you got what it takes to show the young bucks they can't mess with your heavy metal Masterful-ness, you're more than welcome to come to Seniors too. Actually we encourage it. In fact with some of the freaky weights lifted at Master/Sub-master's I wouldn't doubt if quite a few Master lifter's gave some of the Open lifter's all they can handle.

Garry has single handily spun the APF/WPC negativity caused by the WPO being released from the Arnold Classic, and steered the federation in a totally new positive direction that benefits all APF/WPC lifters. Many parents, coaches, new states are expressing interest in joining the APF/WPC because of the new growth Garry has created. The reality is the APF/WPC has regained it's momentum bigtime! As we speak KK has seized an opportunity that's getting all the WPO lifter's owed prize money from 2005/2006 completely paid in full. Regardless of what's happened it's in the past it's never the end, but a new beginning for the APF/WPC. We are moving on to bigger and better things. As we all know the APF stands for the the American Powerlifting Federation. During these uncertain times in our sport the APF initials will have a secondary meaning too, Always Pushing Forward(APF).

As a lifter Garry has always been a figurehead in the APF/WPC. Simply for making history being the first to break the 2500,2600,2700 pound barrrier, but as APF President Garry has become a diplomat of powerlifting that benefits the APF/WPC immensely. Look for Garry to return to the lifting platform sooner than later. He is totally healed up now, and changed his training slightly to allow more recuperation time. Garry is chomping at the bit to hit a huge total again! Thanks for all you have done for the APF/WPC Garry.

Sincerely, Mike Sweeney WPC President.
