What I am saying is that powerlifting is not covered like strongman and bodybuilding is and the last time I checked the world strongman was not tested, or the olyimpia.I think the world's strongest man is drug tested, but they are looking for narcotics and the like. Mariuz Pudzinowski (sp?) failed a couple years ago for something like that.
A lot of the non tested guys have had coverage in the major muscle magazines, like Mendelson, Rychlack, and a few others. What was the quality of the coverage? I've been disappointed in alot of powerlifting's exposure in those magazines.
Even in powerlifting usa, the focas is on the all time records. The "all-time" records are a joke. More often than not, when video is posted of one of these "all-time" records, the lift is terrible and should have been turned down without a second thought.
If drug testing was 100% accurate, then I would agree that it would be a good idea, but in any sport that test, the people that fail one test have passed several before they failed the one.An athlete either passes a test or they don't. If they do fail, there is an appeals process in place to handle that. That should catch mistakes and false positives if the athlete decides to go forward with an appeal. Just because an athlete passed a few tests and then got caught, doesn't mean he beat the test on all the others.
They have a drugfree olyimpia in bodybuilding but how many on this board can name the top 2 competitors in it.This is a powerlifting forum. Most people on here could care less about bodybuilding. I couldn't tell you who won many of the big bodybuilding shows.
There is a lot of controversy in any sport that drug test, hell watch espn and listen to all the bullshit about the major leauge roid scandel.Alot of that is brought on by the people involved in the "scandal". They need to decide whether they are going to do drug testing for real or not. Then when these stories do break, there are always lame ass excuses why it's not there fault, etc.
Or go to any drug tested meet and look how they gossip about who is beating the test and how.At the meets I go to, I don't hear much of that at all unless it's blatantly obvious someone is cheating. This is a two-way street though. How many times do we hear the "drugged" lifters saying that drug free lifters have to be on something because of the numbers they are hitting?
Anybody that can compete at the top with out roids is great in my book and there have been a lot.I agree.
But how can a sport that allows lifters to wear gear that adds hundreds to their lifts, make such a big deal out of drug testing?Don't know. Somewhere along the way a stigma has been attached to steroids and those that use them.
You get very little carry over out of even the best roids, compared to even ipf approved single ply gear.So what would you say the carryover would be? 10%?
