God, I wish i had known about this before your wife went back, I could have told you she would not be allowed back in the country without the green card complete. I went through this several years ago with my wife. We had a very good attorney that, honestly, cost way too much money, but he did save us a few problems. My wife missed a few things back home because of this stupid and outdated rule. The rule makes absolutely no sense at all.
