A hernia is stomach pushing through the abdominal wall you should feel a bulge there if that is the case. If you do you should put off heavy lifting and go see a doctor. If your intestine pushes through it could get strangulated and cause lots of problems. As for it being a charley horse I know if I don't get enough water or my electrolites get out whack I will get bad abdominal wall cramping. I used to get it really bad with creatine monohydrate. I am an EMT so my knowledge is limited.
