In 87 the bench shirt was only 3 years old, and even the worlds best benchers was only getting 15 to 25 pounds out of the blast shirt, so itr was still basicly a raw lift. Yes there are still a lot of single ply guys on the top 100 list, most of the top single ply lifters are near the top of the list. Meeker Siders, and a lot of others. A lot of the single ply guys act like they are lifting raw compared to the multi ply guys when the fact is that single ply gear has improved as much if not more than the multi ply gear has. I know a lot of single ply lifters that has to have 100 pounds over their raw bench on the bar just to get the weight to touch, or to get low enough in the squat. Ethier your raw or your not everything else is just a exuse. Multi ply is avalable to all lifters, regardless of religion, sex, race edjacation, or social level, gear is gear. Some of us just get sick of hearing the top 100 and top 20 lifters get discredited, by exuses. I love the uspf, and I always competed in the uspf it is a single ply fed, but when I competed I would hit at least one apf meet a year double ply just to get higher on the top 100 list. It is that simple.
