ERIC, YOU DO NEED BAND TENSION WHEN TRAINING WITH THE BANDS. WHAT I SUGGEST IS TO DECREASE TO 35% OF YOUR MAX AND ONLY HAVE A 1 MIN. REST BETWEEN SETS. ALWAYS VARY YOUR GRIP AND FOCUS ON MOVING THE WEIGHT FAST THROUGH THE ENTIRE RANGE. IF YOU ARE THEN ABLE TO DO ALL 8-12 SETS OF 3 REPS GO UP TO 40% THE NEXT WEEK, AND SO ON. THIS TYPE OF TRAINING IS BASED ON PHYSICS AND THE FORMULA F=MA. IT IS A VERY EFFECTIVE WAY TO TRAIN. HERE'S THE PROBLEM. BECAUSE IT IS SO ADVANCED, IT IS TAXING TO THE BODY AND NOT ONLY WILL YOU NEED REHAB, BUT ALSO PREVENTATIVE MAINTAINENCE OR YOU WILL EVENTUALLY HAVE ROTATOR CUFF PROBLEMS, AC JOINT IMPINGEMENT SYNDROME, AND PEC TEARS. ALL ELITE LEVEL ATHLETES NEED A GOOD PREHAB/REHAB PROGRAM TO PERFORM THEIR BEST. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE SPORT IS TENNIS OR POWERLIFTING, REPETIVE USE CAUSES TENDON ISSUES. GOOD LUCK
