"what if let say Tiger Wood's sposnor (meaning Titleist) was to sponsor a golf championshop and they said ok, you can all compete for prize money but you can only use our clubs. What's the point of that since many golfers haven't been using those clubs. But this isn't what I am talking about."
That probably wouldn't work because I'd guess that the PGA has rules as to allowed gear much like USAPL has approved gear. Lifters can wear any approved manufacturers gear to compete. It might be different in a specialty meet.
"I work for Draeger Medical. I teach and sell Adult and Neonatal Ventilators. Each year I sponsor the Louisiana State Resp Convention by way of a Crawfish Boil and live music on the Saturday night. It cost me at least 5K. My competition meaning Marquet is also a sponsor. They donate money to the orginization to sponsor the quizz bowl. All money's go to the orginization which helps the profession. Do you think it is good business for me to tell the LSRC I won't sponsor the Boil as long as Marquet is allowed to have a booth at the show."
It depends on how it's done. I don't know anything about the LSRC but as I stated before, it's common in sports for there to be exclusive contracts with sponsors and vendors, in which companies position themselves in the best possible place in their markets.
" Do you call that good buisness because I don't."
Again, it would depend on your goal and the market you are in. Would your business increase if you were able to secure an exclusive relationship as the Official Neonatal Ventilator Sponsor of the LSRC? If so, it seems that that would be good business.
"Who said having two sponsors or even more selling similar products at the same venue is bad. It's only bad for the lifters because now they loose out on competitive priceing."
Most of the lifters will have purchased their gear for the meet long before the meet and while some may purchase gear at the meet. Furthermore, competition in pricing isn't based on who sponsors a certain meet.
" It is my believe, it should be allowed that anybody can be a sponsor and purchase a booth to sell product"
That is pretty much the case BUT it is up to the meet director to determine how he wants to allocate the space he has. If it's more profitable for him to have an exclusive relationship with a gear vendor or a supplement vendor or whatever, he should do what's best to cover his costs because putting on a PL meet can be a losing proposition.
" as long as the cost of the booth goes back to the sport."
Define back to the sport and define who should determine where the meet directors cash should go?
" I mean isn't that what it is all about..... giving back to the lifters..... or is it about MONEY................ "
Good question. I'd say both. If you're putting on a meet, you are already giving back to the lifters because in most areas NOBODY ELSE is going to put on a meet. If you can cover your costs or make a few bucks if you're lucky, I say more power to you.
