I may have been duped

What I would say to this gentleman is I may have been duped. When I first started NASA, I had a respect for Rich. If he said this guy was a scumbag, or that guy was a criminal, like many in the organization I accepted his word, blindly, with no evidence. Carte blanche, because Rich Peters said it, I believed it. I can only blame myself for such stupidity. How do I know this guy is a criminal? Did I do a background check? Was I there when he supposedly committed the crime? No, but because Rich said it, by God it was law; it was fact. I respected Rich Peters because he had a pretty good total in his day, and he, at one time, was a prolific director: all the credentials that make you want to look up to somebody..He even helped me with some deadlifting technique...However, what escaped me, was even with all these credentials, He is still HUMAN, and capable of ERROR. It is MY BAD for taking what he said at face value and not investigating the other side. It wasn't until my friend Terry got blasted before I changed my tune...He was so unprofessional with Terry and demonized him (A former lifter of the year by the way), it made me wonder if he did this with the rest of the people he's touting as scumbags, drug users, and adulterers. Once more, how do you people know this is the truth; that these guys are criminals??? Where's the proof..I don't see it posted on any web page..The person that made this post, as heartfelt as it is,is so worried that I might be siding with the scaliwags of the Internet and that might hurt me...Did it ever occur to you that Rich's representation of these guys may be skewed, and in some cases flat out wrong???I can only say look at what he did to Terry...I think in some ways this is a tactic by some lifters to make it out like Bruner, Dentice, Hart, Terry, Me, and Jesse are all sitting back and having beers and buddying up on this, and reeking havoc on NASA. The only person I know here is Terry; the only thing I did was stand up for his right to be heard, but to lump me in there as the liberal fruitcake siding with the ones that Rich has formerly vilified is a thinly veiled attempt to taint my character. Once again I don't know their stories to make a judgment, and I've learned not to believe Rich or anyone for that matter until I get proof. This reminds me of the Milgram Studies back in the 60's...Stanley Milgram set up an obedience to authority study, and had people shocking innocent victims. In short, what he noticed is when the doctor said to shock the innocent victims, they would blindly do it, up to 500 volts. Just because the doctor had credentials, the robe, and a stethoscope, people blindly shocked the fire out of people..This is truly a lesson for us to learn, that we shouldn't always blindly accept or do what an authority figure tells us to do...They may have all the credentials and fanfare, but that doesn't mean they are not capable of malfeasance. We are talking about humans here...I raise my hand, I was guilty of the sheep mentality...I truly believe I was duped.
I noticed that lifters are still pining away at the details of the drug test in the NASA training forum..This was done right, this was done wrong...Lifters keep questioning the time frame that Terry questioned Rich. Why is this so complicated for some?? Hypothetically, let's just say the drug testing was done right, or near perfect as NASA is stating. What if, in my eyes, I see it as flawed...Don't I have a right to an opinion? You guys keep avoiding this issue like the plague...Terry had a right to an opinion without being banned for it, whether the drug testing was done perfectly or not.. (we found out that it wasn't)....This is America..Any lifter in NASA had an inalienable right to question it without fear of retribution...It's called freedom of speech...Until there is a logical and suitable answer for that, I don't see why arguing over the little details really matter. Also, management did not do what they said they were going to do in a post. It was fair to question it. In fact, if the criticism was received well, the techniques could have been applied to next years Pro Powersports making it a better event...
Good news is I think I found another powerlifting home, and I am ready to move beyond this...I've got dreams..I'm moving on to a new path...Many of us are...It's kind of scary, but this is life isn't it.....I'm ready to close the chapter of NASA as over...
We were told on the forum that Rich would strip all records from the people that got banned...I earned that American unequipped deadlift record Rich...If you wipe it off the books and off the Internet, it's still in my heart...
