A few High Lights from the SPF Southeast Regionals
We'll start with the Greatest battle of the day! Craig Stutes, and Jon Grove of NGBB! Both 308 ers. These big guys were squatting deeper than I have ever see big men squat! They both open with 925, both good and extremely easy! Jon goes to 1005, takes it really deep and blast up, but stalls right at lockout! Craig ask for 1025, looks like he breaks by about two inches, and explodes upward, gets a little far back on his heels and loses his balance.
To the bench Jon opens with 620, and that is it for Jon! Craig goes on to bench 705!
To the deadlift. Jon had suffered a hernia, and can only pull a token deadlift. Craig pulls 675 for a 2305 tatol and the largest total of the meet!
Jon proudly presented Graig Stutes with $500.00 cash (on behalf of North Georga Barbell) for the largest total of the meet! The battle for the biggest bench! Of course you all know by now about Big Paul Key's 835 speed record bench in about 1/10 of a second....lol! Crazy Fast!
Paul being the man he is declined the free Katana shirt because he's sponsored by Inzer. Next was Curt (Brute) Dennis (now sponsored by Ken Anderson and Titan) with a strong 760, and a really good effort at 800! Great benching guys!Sam Byrd was a little light at lifting time and suffered a elbow injury during the squat! I have watched Sam squat alot and have never seen him taking attempts to this depth. They could have pasted in any federation!!!!! Sam goes on to do the deadlift only and pulls a very easy 700 with a near miss at 760 to win the deadlift helper by body weight!!!!
Now to Carol Ann Myers! Carol Ann is as shredded as I have ever seen her! She looks like she's ready for the stage now!!! Only eight more weeks! Carol has not been in gear since the APC Nationals last June. She has been doing all her training raw. Putting on gear for just three weeks prior to this meet, and goes 500, 250, and with no suit 425 in the dead for 1175 total! Would love to see what she could do with about 8-10 weeks in gear. That is very little over her resent raw total of 1000 lbs! Carol Ann's next outing will be at the NPC Lee Haney Bodybuilding & Fitness/Figure Challenge in Shreveport, Louisiana, May 10th!
We had 40 Great lifters, and really want them all to know, how much we appreciate them and all the do for powerlifting ......The hotel was all Jesse could find with the short notice, but he is already looking for a much Bigger and Better site for next year!!!!!!!!
Thank you, to all that came out to lift, watch, and help!!!! We promise Bigger and Better things to come!
