what gear for a first timer

i have competed in 2 competetions both times raw.i am now looking to compete in single ply gear under ipf rules. just wondering what gear is good for a beginner.as far as what brand to go with.titan,inzer also i dont hear much about ricky dale crains gear. anyways looking for some guidance here.
